Like Harry Potter, there is an imaginative contemporary setting where good and evil wage war. Like The Hunger Games there is a strong theme of fighting against injustice. Like Anne of Green Gables there are scenes of pure charm and civility.And it all comes together making you want to read the second book, for love of the characters as much as to know what comes next.

Fans of the Harry Potter will love A.Z. Rowland’s Dragonkin Awakening. The story is delightful. The characters quickly become like friends. I couldn’t wait to see what would happen to them next. The descriptions are vivid and capture the imagination. Rowland did an excellent job with this book. I can’t wait for the next Dragonkin book. Highly recommended.
No longer can the every day life around Memorial Park be considered mundane.
The magic of this place jumps off the very first page and you find yourself delightfully enchanted. You become surrounded by people that feel so familiar to you that you wonder if the writer had a crystal ball that transported her characters into your own world. I loved spending time here. This story is much more than a fantasy turned into reality, it is reality turned into fantasy!
Take a moment and ask yourself what it might be like if dragons existed in the park down the street from you. Couldn't happen? What if you suddenly became awakened to the truth .... that dragons do exist and you share their world. Read Dragonkin Awakening and see if you don't become a believer!

I like fantasy and thought a book about dragons would be fun. This book was so boring, I didn't even finish it properly. I started skimming to the end.

I loved the vivid imagery of the book. The story is told in a way that it all sounds absolutely believable even though you know that these things aren't real. The language makes it become real and it's like you are right there.
I can't wait for the series to continue!
The book told the reader what was experiences instead of showing. Never really learned much about the characters and they didn't grow. Plot was very slow moving. Ended in the middle of the story.
